My name is Lesley Quan, having many fond memories of being with my grandmother in her flower garden and my interest in art helped cultivate my passion for floral design. My training and experiences in floral design has lead me to focus my talents in wedding design and floral sculpture. With my 20 years’ experience I earned the title of Floral Designer of the Year, Cover of Minnesota Bride Magazine, designing for Kare 11 TV and teaching beginning to advanced Floral Design.
My passion is to help my clients to create that magical look and feel for their special day. The most important thing is too get to know you, your style and your vision then I can translate that into floral reality. If you’re not sure of your vision, I can guide you to customize your event by putting that personal touch that uniquely speaks to you. The entrepreneurial spirit was also in the blood of Sharon’s son, Tyler Conrad, who started a manufacturing business of his own in 1993—coincidentally, also at the age of 22. Tyler realized he wanted to eventually make GoodThings his own, and in 1998, Tyler joined Sharon in the family business and the two set their sights on expansion.
In 2003, the mother-son team opened a second GoodThings location at The Shoppes of Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, Minn.
In 2014, GoodThings expanded its downtown White Bear Lake operations, creating a multi-level clothing, shoe, and activewear boutique, GoodThings Clothing, right next door to the existing gift store.

What is known as GoodThings today began back in 1973 in the basement of a downtown White Bear Lake bank building. At age 22, with a $5,000 loan from her father, Sharon Conrad’s opened Spanky’s Emporium, a 500-square-foot store filled with shirts and socks for teens. She quickly learned the first three rules of running a successful retail store were location, location, location, so Sharon made the move to a street-front location on Banning Avenue. Throughout the next 41 years, GoodThings would evolve through many different name changes and several locations in and around White Bear Lake.

OUR ROOTS
Co-founder Matt Kruger was toying with the notion of getting in touch with his inner craftsman, and decided his creative outlet of choice would be candle-making. The logical next step was to ask life-long best friend and graphic designer Blake to help with the branding, name, logo, etc. But Blake wasn’t content to sit back and let the proverbial-candle burn—he wanted in.
When it came time to put a name on said idea, they knew what ideal they wanted to depict, but couldn’t put a finger on how to summarize that ideal in a single word.
Enter Grandma.
Born in Norway, GRANDMA ARDIS was known for spontaneously reverting to her native tongue when the need arose. In this case, the need was trying to explain the inner warmth she felt when she entered a room alight with candles, a wood-burning fire and the scent of fresh bread baking in the kitchen.
Her words were this: “Det er så koselig her inne!”
Translation: It’s so cozy in here.
“Koselig” isn’t simply a direct translation of “cozy”—it’s a deeper mindset than its English counterpart. To put it into words, we would say it’s a state of being brought on by an atmosphere.
Hence, the name Koselig Candle Co. was born, as well as the mission behind it. It stems from that desire we have as humans to place a high priority on strong relationships and warm havens in our lives. Matt and Blake truly believe a great smelling and aesthetically pleasing candle can transform any situation into a place where people can come together and enjoy life's simplest pleasures.

What started as a hobby in 2015, turned into what you know know as Naptime Faith & Life Gift Shop! I started making jewelry in 2015 during my kid’s nap time. It was a quiet hobby, I could enjoy while my kids were sleeping. I called the business "My Naptime Jewelry" and I was most well known for my Aromatherapy Jewelry, using volcanic lava stones to diffuse essential oils. I did many art fairs and online sales and etsy for a couple of years until, eventually, the business outgrew my home, and I needed to find a separate space to ship orders and store supplies.

Oldies & Goodies opened in June 2023 in its new location at 4717 Clark Ave in White Bear Lake, MN. Working together Amber and Emily have created a space where anyone can come shop vintage clothing and accessories, second hand furniture and decor and of course items from local makers and artisans. They now work with over 100 local artists, many of them from White Bear Lake and surrounding communities.
In addition to gifts and decor the store now hosts events and classes with local artists and authors. Together they are supporting the local community and helping keep items out of the landfill by promoting sustainable shopping with secondhand clothing and housewares.

Our Story
The Farmer’s Daughter is currently owned and operated by Jeff and Carrie Thomas.
On April 1, 2003 Lynn Hennings (the original owner and founder) realized her lifelong dream of owning her own store when she opened The Farmer’s Daughter Handmade and Handcrafted Gifts. Since her days as a 4-Her on the family farm in Grafton, Wisconsin, Lynn would play store in her parents’ basement, selling her county fair sewing projects.
Visitors to the shop can see photos of the farm, her family, and her blue ribbon dairy cow from the Ozaukee County Fair. What started as a 4-Her’s dream became a reality with just under 900 square feet of space and 20 crafters. Now the shop has doubled its size and the number of crafters.
In 2010, Jeff and Carrie Thomas joined The Farmer’s Daughter as Lynn’s business partners. After spending several years as consignors at the Farmer’s Daughter, Lynn, Jeff, and Carrie realized that not only had they formed a wonderful friendship, but that they all worked really well together and shared the same dream of owning a store.
Jeff and Carrie have spent the last 25 years working as artisans. Jeff’s passion is working with wood and Carrie’s with fabric, so they make a perfect team. They both grew up in the Twin Cities, but after spending 14 years living in Florida they decided that home… really was here in Minnesota with their family and friends.
